As part of the CEDC Language Platform events, a workshop on translation and interpreting took place at the end of March 2026 at the Language Institute of the Austrian Defence Academy in Vienna. Representatives of language institutions from six member countries of the initiative, Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and Slovenia, participated in the workshop, together with their colleagues from Serbia, representing the CEDC+ countries of the Western Balkans, and the Netherlands, participating as an observer. At the workshop, the School of Foreign Languages of the Slovenian Armed Forces, chairing the Language Platform in 2026, presented the progress and plans for its two main projects, the multilingual glossary of medium forces and unmanned aerial vehicles, and the English language testing review. The workshop participants also learned about the use of artificial intelligence in translation and interpreting, and the relevant applications developed by the company Acolad. In addition to exchanging professional experience on linguistic work challenges within their institutions, they finalized the 2026 schedule of events and discussed future projects.
