From 15 to 19 June 2026, the Slovenian Armed Forces School of Foreign Languages hosted an international testing workshop in Poljče under the framework of the CEDC Language Platform.
The workshop brought together STANAG 6001 language testing experts from all six CEDC member states – Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia – either in person or remotely.
The primary objective of the workshop was to identify similarities and differences in English language testing practices based on the NATO STANAG 6001 standard. Since language testing remains a national responsibility within NATO, exchanging experiences and comparing national approaches contributes to greater transparency, interoperability and mutual understanding among allied and partner armed forces.
During the workshop, participants reviewed national testing systems and updated a comparative overview of STANAG 6001 testing practices across CEDC member states. The findings may support future cooperation in the development and exchange of tests, testing personnel and related expertise.
The workshop represents one of the key activities of the CEDC Language Platform, which has been chaired by the Slovenian Armed Forces School of Foreign Languages since 1 January 2026. Through its activities, the Language Platform promotes a common understanding of language policy and strengthens multinational cooperation in the field of military language education and testing.

The updated comparative overview, available below, reflects the current STANAG 6001 testing arrangements in CEDC member states and represents a valuable contribution to transparency, interoperability and mutual understanding among participating nations.
